Request: My (Very Humble!) Blush Collection

Hey everyone!

Another requested topic (from one of my friends on YouTube) is to show my current blush collection and what blushes I think suits my skintone (and they're my fave!). I'll also be talking about blushers in general in this post!

TYPES OF BLUSHERS:

So basically these 3 are the more popular blusher types:
1) Powder blushers
2) Cream blushers
3) Gel blushers

Personally, I prefer powder blushers because it takes such ease to apply and it's easy to touch up when I'm out and about.
I've never tried matte cream blushers before, but shimmery ones, like the ELF All Over Colour Sticks, they don't sit too well with me, I feel like a disco ball whenever I apply them on, even if I use only a little bit!
I do have a gel blush, but I find that the colour doesn't come off as strong as I would like it, even when I did 2-3 layers it still didn't show up! Sad :(

WHAT'S YOUR IDEAL BLUSH COLOUR? (Ref: Peter Lamas)

Warm-Toned Skin: Hot Pink, Coral, Warm Red, Bronze, Brown
Cool-Toned Skin: Plum, Wine, Crimson, Blue-Red, Pastel Pink, TerraCotta, Peach, Rose

HOW TO TELL YOUR SKIN'S UNDERTONE?

Anna Saccone (The Style Diet) shows you how in this easy to follow video :)

HOW TO APPLY BLUSHER: THE RIGHT TECHNIQUE

Wayne Goss (Gossmakeupartist) teaches you the right way to apply blusher. I like how he explains it in this video :)

Anyway here's my collection of blushers:

And a quick look at everything;

And here are my favourite 3 blushers! :)

Swatches!

I decided to swatch the blushes onto a piece of paper because the colours doesn't show up on camera if I have it swatched at the back of my arms.

That's all folks and thanks for reading! xoxo

Tag: My Life In 20 Questions

Hey everyone!

I thought I'll do a tag blog post instead of a video because of 2 reasons:

1) I want to revive my blog
2) I don't want people to get sick of my YT channel

I get questions asking why I love doing tags so much; it's a way for me to share with you what I like/dislike and I love watching/making tags because they are more 'relaxed'. :)

OH YES. Do you like my new page look? Thanks to Roseanne for letting me know how to fix the theme! xx

HAHA okay let's get on to the tag!

1. What's your favorite color?
I am in love with purple. No, not because Justin Bieber likes purple, I liked purple way before he was born.

2. What's your favorite number?
Probably the number 3. It's my birthdate! :)

3. What is your dream career?
Well, I actually would love to be a Radio DJ, but like my mum jokingly said "you study go where, your DJ thing go where?" ouch, thanks Mom. Now I'm re-considering my career path, I'd love to take another diploma doing Apparel Design & Merchandising, but it will cost a lot and I will need to save up real bad. So right now my dream career is still hanging in mid-air kinda thing. I've been told to try dabbling in makeup but I don't see myself being the next Eric Jimenez. I love makeup but I don't see myself pursuing that as a career. Maybe something related to fashion.

4. Where do you see yourself living when you're on your own?
I've always wanted to live in semi-detached houses, and currently I find those apartments above shopping malls kinda cool. Oh! What about The Pinnacle? It looks gorgeous from the pictures I've seen. Okaaayy, maybe I have a slight problem in trying to decide where to live.

5. Where is your favorite place to travel?
Well, since the furthest I went was to Muar in Malaysia, this question doesn't apply to me! Okay, but if I were a chance to travel anywhere in the world, I'd prolly like to go to Dubai, Turkey or Ireland. And stalk Westlife!

6. What do you do in your free time?
I love to daydream. I daydream a lot and I like talking to myself. I know that is such a weird past time, but I do. I will daydream about anything and everything- from food to celebrities to Prince William (back when I was younger). ARRRRR he's getting married sigh. Okay, other than that I like to browse fashion blogs and save inspirational pictures for my own lookbook. And maybe read a romance novel or two when I'm not in the mood to daydream.

7. Favorite clothing stores?
I love Forever 21 but I have never bought anything from there! I love to browse through the racks, oh and New Look's very nice too, their shoes are amazing!

8. Dream car?
I would love to drive an Audi R8 some time in the future. A bit farfetched I know since I don't have my driver's license yet (working on it) but it's one of the more sexier cars I've seen!

9. What TV shows can't you live without?
CSI, America's Next Top Model and Criss Angel's Mindfreak.

10. 3 things (more like people) you need in your life are...
My mom- she's my rock, love her to bits although I don't express it to her.
My boyfriend- the only one who understands (apart from my mom) my idiosyncrasies and loves me anyway.
My besties- they love me although they know I'm not sane.

11. I can't sleep without...?
My bolster! I hug it every night to sleep. I guess I still can sleep without it, but the transition to slumberness is much faster with Mr Bolster. Haha!

12. If you were given 1 million dollars all for yourself what would you do with it?
I will donate some of it to charity under my late dad's name, give a whole chunk to me mom, put some as fixed deposit for later, and use the rest for either a holiday trip or for that coveted Diploma!

13. I have a celebrity crush on...?
Keanu Reeves. I love Johnny Depp yes, but he's taken up by so many women I can't stand it, haha! So Mr Reeves it is. Like Zoe said in 'Something's Gotta Give", "You’re elusive and ungetable, a real catch." I'm just hoping to high heavens he is not gay. Because most of the celebrities I liked turns out to be gay or whatever.

14. What is your favorite treat to eat?
Whoever did this questionnaire made this question sound like we're animals or something. SNACKS la, what treats. I love the Chocolate Pillows by... I can't remember the brand! But it's in a gold-yellow packaging that's sold at about 50-70cents. LOVE THEM. Basically, they're crunchy outside like biscuits, and inside's all chocolate! Yumyumyum.

15. My favorite wild animal is...
A black panther. They're just so sexy with the fur going on and the eyes. HOMG.

16. What is your favorite season?
Well, basically there's only rain or shine over here.. I'd say cloudy? Haha. I love rain, and I love sun. So basically I like Singapore's weather no matter how wet or how hot it gets, we're blessed to have good weather!

17. My favorite childhood shows were...
Barney (embarassing), Power Rangers (only the Mighty Morphin' ones. The P.R now are RUBBISH), Art Attack, Arthur (I hate DW so annoying), Dragon Tales!

18. Why did you start making YouTube videos?
I was bored actually, that was the main reason. When I first put on my videos I was like "Ah, nobody will watch one lah." But seeing my subscribers growing makes me happy! Like, I didn't know people would want to watch someone as cray-cray as me.

19. What do you hold close to your heart?
My mom and my friends- they're the ones I turn to whenever I feel out of sorts, accepting me and my cray-cray attitude.

20. What is one music artist that you are in love with?
Westlife. Now now, yes I know they're pretty old fashioned, hey they're a man-band now haha! Love their singing style, all of them are drop dead gorgeous and they produce consistent albums year after year. And they're the most down-to-earth people I've ever seen.

Now, I tag YOU to do this! (Anyone, really.)

Thanks for reading! xx

Request: Frequent Hair Products I Use & Product Dislikes

By feistyskies · April 25, 2011 · 4 Comments · 426 Views

Hey everyone!

This was requested by one of my subscribers here on YouTube to do a video on what products I use for my hair.

Now, I've just soft rebonded my hair 2 months ago and this is my 2nd time rebonding it. Previously I was recommended the Shiseido Program Solution Shampoo (for Coloured & Straight Hair) so I decided to re-use the shampoo again this time after my rebonding session.

Okay, here's the tricky bit. I know I was babbling my way through the whole video (which was caffeine induced, by the way) so I decided to jot down my hair washing regime clearly in this blog post. Hopefully.

(Regime is based on freshly rebonded hair)

1st Week:

No washing for the first 3 days.
4th day = Shiseido Shampoo + Herbal Essences Conditioner + Herbal Essences Serum
7th day = Herbal Essences Shampoo + Conditioner + Serum

2nd Week:

4th day = Shiseido Shampoo + Herbal Essences Conditioner + Herbal Essences Serum
7th day = Herbal Essences Shampoo + Conditioner + Serum

Et cetera, et cetera...

I like to use hair spray once my hair starts to grow back since I've wavy/frizzy hair, and the Ballet Hair Spray does the job very well + it smells HEAVENLY!

---

And I thought I'll just throw in my (very quick) 2 cents' worth about some products that I don't really like that much. Just because.

L'Oreal StudioLine Silk & Gloss Extra Strong Hold Hair Spray:
Ahh, apparently the extra hold level for this can of spray is a '4'. It's either I got a bad batch or their '4' is more of like '1'. And the cloying taste you get after you sprayed this into your hair...ugh. Feels like you're having spray breakfast in the morning or.. lunch or dinner, at whatever time you're using this spray. You get what I mean. Right?

KAO Essential Rich Premier Shampoo:
Love the scent of this shampoo, easy to lather, works fine for my hair... and suddenly, 2-3 days later, my hair-fall is accelerated like, 3294 times. Whenever I run my fingers through my wet/damp hair, strands of hair just clings onto my palm and fingers. Can make keychain leh like that.

---

So that's pretty much what I use and don't use for my hair. I'm planning to switch shampoos soon once the Herbal Essences 'Smooth Lovin' one finishes because I find that 'Hello Hydration' & 'Long Term Relationship' work better for my hair.

Let me know if you have a favourite brand of shampoo and conditioner that you swear your life by & I'll talk to you soon! Thanks for reading! xoxo

Mini Sunday Review: ELF Mineral Infused Mascara

Email |

By feistyskies · February 6, 2011 · 6 Comments · 307 Views

Hey everyone!

Today's Mini Sunday Review (MSR) will be about ELF's Mineral Infused Mascara which I had gotten a couple of months back from SG_BEAUTY.

Here's what it claims to do:

(click for larger image)

"Mineral Infused Mascara creates fuller, healthier looking lashes. It enhances lashes for a naturally thicker and more volumized look. The long-wear formula and unique silicone brush creates clump free and defined lashes that last all day."

PACKAGING:

- Sleek matte black tube
- 'ELF Mineral Mascara' embossed in silver
- Easy to handle

WAND:

- Silicone brush bristles
- Slightly tapered at the end for easier reach
- Flexible wand head

FORMULA:
- Not goopy
- Dries in about 1 minute (on average) on my lashes
- Smudgeable & non-waterproof

Here's how the mascara looks on my lashes:

Here are my bare lashes (and my bare face hehehe)

...and my lashes with 1 coat of the mascara!

As you can see my lashes are lengthened just a smidge. Not much but it does help to separate my lashes a bit. It's not clumpy at all even after 2 - 3 coats, which I really like. I just wished that the mascara was smudgeproof though, it would be better!

I really like the brush because the end is tapered, so it is small enough to reach the smaller/shorter lashes at the inner corners of my eyes. I always apply this mascara when I need to run a quick errand at the neighbourhood mall or to go pick up some stuff from people.

I myself prefer non-waterproof formulas when it comes to mascaras as it's easier to remove them. I don't use eye makeup remover when I take this mascara off, I just use warm water and rub my lashes gently between my thumb & index finger to loosen up and remove the mascara bits that is stuck on my lashes.

Here's a very weird looking photo of my full face with the mascara on:

I will definitely recommend this as an everyday light-activity mascara! Not recommended for those who prefer heavy duty mascaras though as the ELF Mineral Mascara is not smudgeproof and non-waterproof.

That's all & thanks for reading! xx

SWATCHES: Maybelline ColorSensational Moisture Extreme Lipcolors

By feistyskies · February 1, 2011 · 5 Comments · 1,044 Views

Hey everyone!

I've been asked by Fatin (Eyelashwishh) for swatches of the Maybelline ColorSensational Moisture Extreme Lipcolors that I had previously gotten from the L'Oreal sale back in December if my memory serves me well.

These lipsticks were going for 5 for $20. I went there on the last day and they only had the pinks and corals left, and my boyfriend was urging me to get them, so I did. They retail for $15.90 each at local drugstores.

And omg while typing this out I realised I didn't have a group shot of the lipsticks, so here's a general picture of them.

(Credits: pinkyplue)

Here are the colours that I've gotten from the sale:

1. Coral Sunrise (CB31) - Coral with red undertones, fine gold & red shimmers
2. Pink Petal (M31)
- Rosy pink, slight silver shimmers
3. Rose Pearl (PP01)
- Light pink with TONS of fine, gorgeous shimmer
4. Coral Pink (830)
- Coral with slight brown undertones, no shimmer
5. Cranberry Pink (948)
- Color similar to Rose Pearl, no shimmer

Here's a picture with better lighting:

These lipsticks are quite easy to apply and stays on for a good 2 - 3 hours for my case if I'm not eating and drinking. I would recommend you to bring this lipstick along with you if you have it on for the day because you will need to touch it up a couple of hours after wearing them. I really like how it felt on my lips, no lipbalm required beforehand if you don't have chapped lips. But if you do, you might need to apply a smidge of lipbalm before using this, just an extra precaution. ;)

That's all, and thanks for reading! xx
